Another fun project with Nerdburger Games. This time Craig has designed an RPG inspired by the novels of Stephen King set in the fictional town of Peshtigo from which the players can’t escape. And, he turned to me to provide the map of this horror town.

I was super excited to stretch my cartography muscles when Craig at Nerdburger Games (a website I helped redesign, btw) commissioned me to do the galactic map for CAPERS Offworld – a supplement to the award-winning CAPERS RPG. I’ve done some personal art set in space, but most of the maps I’ve created have been fantasy-oriented.
I think we were able to capture the 1920s sci-fi vibe with the overall design, and I’m really pleased with the way this one turned out.
Note: This is the GM version of the map. There’s also a player version with fewer elements.
This was an interesting and challenging project for Minerva McJanda over at UFO Press. The task was to create a map that represented the location of the game world, making it feel cohesive, while also leaving space for players to add their own map objects with dry erase markers. Now, generally, when you make a map, you’re not looking to leave large swaths of it empty, but I really enjoyed trying to figure out how to represent the incredible world of Mythsea while still making this map function in the way UFO Press envisioned.
