Another fun project with Nerdburger Games. This time Craig has designed an RPG inspired by the novels of Stephen King set in the fictional town of Peshtigo from which the players can’t escape. And, he turned to me to provide the map of this horror town.

I was super excited to stretch my cartography muscles when Craig at Nerdburger Games (a website I helped redesign, btw) commissioned me to do the galactic map for CAPERS Offworld – a supplement to the award-winning CAPERS RPG. I’ve done some personal art set in space, but most of the maps I’ve created have been fantasy-oriented.
I think we were able to capture the 1920s sci-fi vibe with the overall design, and I’m really pleased with the way this one turned out.
Note: This is the GM version of the map. There’s also a player version with fewer elements.
Craig at Nerdburger Games is a repeat client, and I always enjoy working with him. So when he asked me to help him clean up the design of his website, I jumped at the opportunity.
Clean design and super functional especially on mobile, I think it’s exactly what Craig was hoping for with a redesign.
This was an interesting and challenging project for Minerva McJanda over at UFO Press. The task was to create a map that represented the location of the game world, making it feel cohesive, while also leaving space for players to add their own map objects with dry erase markers. Now, generally, when you make a map, you’re not looking to leave large swaths of it empty, but I really enjoyed trying to figure out how to represent the incredible world of Mythsea while still making this map function in the way UFO Press envisioned.

I especially like changing up some of the color palette.
I had the pleasure of working with Radical Bomb games to produce a set of over 20 illustrations for their interactive fiction mobile game. I’ve selected a few to post here.
Craig Campell from Nerdburger Games approached me about designing a t-shirt for his Redbubble shop. We had a fun exchange, and he offered some great feedback after the initial sketches.
I had the privilege of working with Todd Crapper of Broken Ruler Games on designing the website for their fantastic RPG, High Plains Samurai. The game itself is a blast to play, and I tried to capture the action-packed feel of the game in the design of the site through colors, fonts, and animations.
I really enjoyed working on this adventure module for the Universal Storytelling System from Palegain Press. The setting, though vaguely East Asian, is unique and my design skills were stretched trying to communicate the flavor of the setting without lazily reverting to stereotypes or appropriating (and erasing) specific real-world cultures.
